LOCAL PRINT COMPANY IN TOP 1% OF BRITISH PRINTING FIRMS...

Irvine-based printing firm Brown Brothers recently beat 1300 other companies to reach the final 13 to become official printers for the Olympic Games.
The 14-strong company narrowly missed clinching the coveted deal when they tendered for the Olympic Delivery Authority.
With an annual turnover of £1 million, the firm were up against huge printing conglomerates David and Goliath-style.
David McColm, Creative Director of Brown Brothers said: “We were absolutely delighted to make it to the final 13 of the Olympic printing bid. Even just being in Canary Wharf and meeting Sebastian Coe was impressive.
“One of the reasons we didn’t get any further in the bid was because we didn’t have the accreditation ISO 1401, involving an Environmental Management System. However, we are now embarking on that.”
The company has been supported by North Ayrshire Council with advice and grants through programmes part funded by European Structural Funds. It has helped them invest in training, e-business and software which has helped Brown Brothers grow the business as well as giving them the confidence to widen their markets.
“The funding and the Olympic bid have both changed the way we do business,” said David. “It’s also altered our client base, for the better.”
Colin Naismith, NAC Business Adviser said: “We have helped with the growth of the company over the years and the confidence they have acquired as a result. Congratulations to them on their Olympic bid achievement. It’s well-deserved.”
As well as the three Ayrshire Local Authorities, Brown Brothers also carry out work for Hibs FC, Seagate, Gordon Anderson Planthire, Rangers, M & Co and Small World.
