EUROPEAN AND EXTERNAL FUNDING

The main sources of external funding in North Ayrshire include:

European Funds
Lottery Funds
Scottish Rural Development Programme
Various Trusts

The Council has a corporate European and External Funding team which is based within Economic Development Services.

The work of the team includes:

developing input into policy areas with European dimension
representing North Ayrshire on a variety of European forums ensuring effective partnerships are maintained between the council and key partners in Scotland, the UK and Europe
maximising the benefits of European support across the Council services
developing new programmes to access European Funding
supporting partner organisations in accessing European structural funds
identifying and maintaining a database of external funding opportunities available to the Council
proactively promoting external funding opportunities including preparing guidance notes, training materials and information events for council departments and partner organisations
establishing and promoting external funding best practice, policies and procedures
supporting the development of externally funded projects
supporting the completion of funding applications
providing administrative and operational support for the External Funding Working Group

As part of the corporate procedures for externally funded projects, all Council projects applying for external funding should initially contact the External Funding Officer.
